I proudly announce today's birth of my son Paul Isaac. Named after two of my role models.

Today was a good day, since a lot of items for my collection arrived simultaneously in the mail. Among several german Asimov's magazine, there was also an audiobook of The Currents of Space, narrated by Kevin T. Collins. It is the second of four audiobooks released by AudioGO. I bought their version of The End of Eternity (narrated by Paul Boehmer) last month and enjoyed it a lot. I really look forward to listening to this one.

I listened to The Caves of Steel in the '89 BBC radio drama version today. Ed Bishop as Elijah Baley is very impressive. As a side-effect, I now imagine Baley to be looking like Commander Ed Straker from the T.V. series U.F.O.

Also, I thought that it would be absolutely great to have the robot novels narrated or dramatized with the voice of Brent Spiner as R. Daneel Olivaw, for obvious reasons.

On a more critical note, I found some mistakes in the radio version. Well, I thought I found several mistakes. After doublechecking with the book, only one is left: The city announcer frequently mentions the world Trantor. To my knowledge, this is an anachronism as Trantor is not one of the fifty spacer worlds, or at least if it was, it was way too unimportant to be mentioned. But I stick with my opinion that it was not colonized at that time.

Anyway, BBC, please release this dramatization on a decent CD or official download. Thank you! :-)

Today in the mail: an 8CD audiobook version of I, Robot that I recently found on ebay and was previously unaware of. Looks like while in the U.S. the movie inspired an audiobook release with Scott Brick as narrator, in England there was an alternate version narrated by Garrick Hagon.
I will write about this in more details after I had a chance to listen to the CDs.
