A prolific and popular author such as Isaac Asimov has of course also a lot of audiobook versions of his works published, both read by the author himself as well as by professional voice talents. Unfortunately, unlike book publications, older audiobook recordings tend to disappear. Especially with the rise of the CD some 20 years ago, audiobooks on tape became fewer and some very precious old recordings never made the transition to the digital age. Also, lately CDs tend to be replaced by downloadable files.

Thanks to the internet, collectors such as myself nowadays have better possibilities when it comes to tracking down rare items. Over the past years, ebay and I really have become good friends over that matter.

The photo shows my not-so-humble but still far from complete collection of audiobooks by the good doctor. On this page, I would like to discuss some of the items that are in danger of becoming extinct. And believe me, there are a lot of precious gems to be saved from the tape (or vinyl) cementary.
